One of my many favorite hymns! “When We All Get to Heaven” is more of an upbeat hymn.
The lyrics were written by Eliza E. Hewitt. She was a school teacher from Philadelphia. One of her students hit her with a heavy slate on her back. She suffered a severe spinal injury from this incident.
She was an invalid the rest of her life. Eliza chose to write uplifting poetry and gospel hymns the rest of her life. A different person wrote the music to this well-loved hymn.
She met a lady, Emily Wilson, at summer camp. They became friends and Emily wrote the tune to “When We All Get to Heaven.”

I have been writing a lot of music for my students who help out on the pianos during the services.
Just finished writing “Jesus Paid it All” today! I will try to do better. It’s just that I’ve been writing a lot more hymn congregationals for my students who are helping out a whole lot more in the services!
