Love Lifted Me (Chorus) Congregational Style

Tuesday, October 8th, 2024

I shared an arrangement for the verse of Love Lifted Me several days ago.

Just barely sliding into home base to complete this before my house is full of grand kids this evening for the rest of this week!

This arrangement can accompany congregational singing, vocal ensemble or instrumental solo/ensemble.

How does this key work for you all?  (B flat Major)

Holy Holy Holy (Visual Aid)

Friday, October 6th, 2023

Here’s a visual aid for measure #34 in my advanced version of “Holy Holy Holy”.

I used eighth notes instead of sixteenth notes to give a clearer presentation of the RH run layout.

I created this for a reader that was asking if some of the notes were wrong in the right hand run of this measure.

I’m not surprised. It’s a tricky measure!  I had to practice and practice this page!

The Life of Fanny Crosby

Friday, February 17th, 2023

I just ran across this very well-done movie of Fanny Crosby’s life.

Highlights:

Fanny dictated over 40 hymns in one sitting!

Fanny added words to her favorite friend’s tune which created “Blessed Assurance.”

The public was use to getting hymn publications from various authors, so….Fanny’s printing company gave her over 250 pen names to get around this problem 😉

Fanny’s love for others were evident even on her deathbed. She wrote a note of encouragement to a dear grieving friend who had just lost her daughter.

One of My Favorite Sacred Piano Books: Lost in Wonder, Love, and Praise by Mary McDonald

Friday, August 31st, 2018

I enjoy playing through this nice sacred piano book “Lost in Wonder, Love, and Praise” by Mary McDonald and published by Lorenz.

My most favorite one in the book is Come Ye Sinners Poor and Needy. It’s just…..beautiful!  I always have a soft spot for minor key songs.

Listen to several excerpts from the book below.
