Early Intermediate Sacred Piano Solo: Praise to the Lord the Almighty

Monday, July 14th, 2025

Recently, one of my daughter-in-laws was searching for a piano arrangement of “Praise to the Lord the Almighty.”

She needed an easy enough level to learn in time to play for her brother’s wedding during the candle-lighting.

I searched and didn’t find a version she could learn in time. My answer….I wrote a fairly easy arrangement….knowing she could easily embellish on her own. I plan to publish this easy-to-play arrangement ASAP!

Coming Soon: Advanced Sacred Piano Solo

Saturday, March 15th, 2025

At least a month ago, one of my readers requested an arrangement of The Holy City.   At first I didn’t want to tackle this beautiful piece.  I’ve always played the piano accompaniment score for my Dad to sing.  Staying true to the original form was on my mind as I began creating the arrangement for this classic hymn.

I’m doing something a little unusual this time.  Since this arrangement is in the public domain…I’m simply adapting the piece from a vocal arrangement to a piano solo.

This means that it’s legally fine for me to borrow the intro and interludes and still add my own arrangement.

I am nearing the end of the entire piece!  (handwritten format)

This coming week….I  will input this piece into my notation software.

Holy Holy Holy (Visual Aid)

Friday, October 6th, 2023

Here’s a visual aid for measure #34 in my advanced version of “Holy Holy Holy”.

I used eighth notes instead of sixteenth notes to give a clearer presentation of the RH run layout.

I created this for a reader that was asking if some of the notes were wrong in the right hand run of this measure.

I’m not surprised. It’s a tricky measure!  I had to practice and practice this page!

The Life of Fanny Crosby

Friday, February 17th, 2023

I just ran across this very well-done movie of Fanny Crosby’s life.

Highlights:

Fanny dictated over 40 hymns in one sitting!

Fanny added words to her favorite friend’s tune which created “Blessed Assurance.”

The public was use to getting hymn publications from various authors, so….Fanny’s printing company gave her over 250 pen names to get around this problem 😉

Fanny’s love for others were evident even on her deathbed. She wrote a note of encouragement to a dear grieving friend who had just lost her daughter.
