At least a month ago, one of my readers requested an arrangement of The Holy City. At first I didn’t want to tackle this beautiful piece. I’ve always played the piano accompaniment score for my Dad to sing. Staying true to the original form was on my mind as I began creating the arrangement for this classic hymn.
I’m doing something a little unusual this time. Since this arrangement is in the public domain…I’m simply adapting the piece from a vocal arrangement to a piano solo.
This means that it’s legally fine for me to borrow the intro and interludes and still add my own arrangement.
I am nearing the end of the entire piece! (handwritten format)
This coming week….I will input this piece into my notation software.

Very advanced sacred piano solo arranged by Jenifer Cook.

Hope you all enjoy playing this arrangement of No One Understands Like Jesus. It’s the first arrangement I’ve written since my Dad passed away in June of 2022.
I thought my heart would ache too much to write after Dad’s passing but God has given me more compassion over the old hymns of the faith because they mean so much more now!
This particular advanced sacred piano solo is geared to the advanced church pianist. I’ve included four long runs for the right hand. Tip: Practice the runs S_L_O_W until they begin to flow and then slowly insert the run into its surrounding measures until you’ve mastered each run.
Advanced sacred piano solo in the key of C Major.
Includes: two verses and two choruses arranged by Jenifer Cook.
This is the first piano arrangement Jenifer has written since her Dad passed away in June 2022. Jenifer found comfort in her dear Savior during this difficult time as she passionately played "No One Understands Like Jesus! He's a Friend beyond compare!"
“Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”…an excellent reminder to focus on Jesus as we travel through this earthly life.
As I grow older…the words to these old hymns become even more meaningful.
Here’s a homespun hymn arrangement of “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” I just played from my heart and tried to replicate via paper 😉
I especially love the last verse:
“His Word shall not fail you_HE PROMISED 🙂
Believe Him and all will be well.
Then go to a world that is dying, His perfect salvation to tell!
This arrangement is VERY advanced due to at least a half dozen runs…measure #42 contains a run I’ve never used or seen before…but it just seemed to fit.
I will admit it’s the hardest run for me to play in this arrangement. But…with practice it can happen 🙂
Advanced sacred piano solo, 4 pgs.
A majestic entrance to this arrangement opens up to the chorus and then goes into a verse with a final chorus. At least a half dozen runs are included in this exciting arrangement!
I just finished the final copy of “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”.
This is a very advanced piano hymn arrangement with at least a half dozen runs sprinkled throughout the piece.
To be honest, I didn’t think this arrangement was worthy of publication. Why? Sometimes I feel like my homespun arrangements aren’t that interesting. But this is the style I like to play….just straight from my heart.
My piano friend, Meryt Wilson encouraged me to publish this piece.
Maybe there are other church pianists that could make use of this homespun arrangement.
I’ll be creating the video today and hope to publish it by no later than the end of this week.
Just finished the printed version of “The Lord’s Prayer” advanced piano solo! A piano friend is proof reading before final copy is made.
The music to this popular tune is still under copyright so I will be publishing this arrangement through Sheet Music Plus.
You can still go to my store to purchase the arrangement once it’s published. Clicking on the arrangement will take you to Sheet Music Plus’ site for purchase.
I plan to publish “The Lord’s Prayer” by this Friday afternoon.
