Church Pianist Tip: Right Hand Runs

Here’s a sampling of a right hand run idea for the hymn, “The Lily of the Valley” ,,,using sixteenth notes.

I’ll be glad to share a couple more examples using this run idea if you find this helpful.

Please comment below if you would like a few more examples.

I’d love to see more examples. There are a number of things like this that I understand the concept of, but applying them in hymns (especially “on the fly”) is difficult to impossible.

Yes! I appreciate practical examples like this. Recently, I’ve become more fluent and confident with arpeggio runs like this. Maybe it’s from playing many of Faye Lopez’s arrangements that have them in it.
Thanks for sharing! I’ll look forward to more.

I love examples like this! I have such a hard time imagining things on my own.

So very, very helpful. For years I knew that there was a lot I could add to my congregational playing, I just had no idea what, never having been around anyone who plays much beyond what was written in the hymnal. This sets down an example that I can apply to so many areas. Thank you and looking forward to more!
