Wow! How surprised I was to see Loren & Louise Lustig at my church this past Sunday!
Loren & Louise are a husband and wife team who volunteer of their time to minister through music to various churches in their area as needed for Sunday services, weddings and funerals. I’ve gotten to know them over the years via email correspondence.
They have encouraged me over the years through their playing, emails and now a visit! I also enjoy how Loren & Louise weave hymn lyrics throughout their encouraging notes.
Thanks Loren & Louise for the visit and for the gift of piano CDs! You both are an inspiration to me and keep me writing.
Hear Loren & Louise play and hear their encouraging note via video. Click HERE
One of my piano students requested this arrangement of Then Sings My Soul for a piano competition piece.
If you’ve been following my posts over the years, Allissa will sound familiar to you. Allissa has just recently approached a true intermediate level.
She is the one who requested an arrangement of this well-loved hymn.
I tried to add some phrases that sound similar to my advanced version of this hymn. Below….is the video of the early intermediate arrangement for Then Sings My Soul.
Early intermediate sacred piano solo arranged by Jenifer Cook. 3 pgs. Key of B flat major to C major. Two verses and choruses.
This arrangement was written for one of my piano students to play for competition. Some of the phrases will sound similar to my advanced version of Then Sings My Soul. Listen to the video below.
I just ran across this very well-done movie of Fanny Crosby’s life.
Highlights:
Fanny dictated over 40 hymns in one sitting!
Fanny added words to her favorite friend’s tune which created “Blessed Assurance.”
The public was use to getting hymn publications from various authors, so….Fanny’s printing company gave her over 250 pen names to get around this problem 😉
Fanny’s love for others were evident even on her deathbed. She wrote a note of encouragement to a dear grieving friend who had just lost her daughter.
