Just thought I’d share what I’m currently writing. I have been sick since Sunday and itching to get back to writing. We were out of town all last week on a family visit…so looking forward to getting back to work…writing music!
Over the past several years I have been transcribing arrangements from my “Simply Christmas” CD. I’m almost done with the handwritten version of “Manger Medley” as played on my Christmas CD. I would consider this arrangement to be early advanced.
I recently arranged an easy men’s three part arrangement of the old hymn “Are Ye Able,” Said the Master The text of this hymn challenges us to live our lives fully for Christ…remembering how He sacrificed all to lay down His life for us. I’ll be publishing a video of one of our men’s group singing this arrangement and the sheet music will be availalble in our online music store at:
Oh how I love hymns with such rich meaning! May we all focus more on what we’re singing. It’s SO easy to just get caught up on a melody. (I needed that reminder) 😉
Reece Yandle, my Dad, wrote “This is America” a patriotic vocal solo, about twenty-five years ago and I just re-discovered it on one of my recent visits to my parent’s house.
I told Dad he HAD to get this one published!
I will try to provide at least a sample video of “This is America” asap.
This beautiful patriotic anthem speaks of our loyalty to America and reminds us that God gave us America and how we need to keep her free!
Dad also has another Patriotic vocal solo available entitled “In God We Trust.” The words of this tasteful melody reminds us to trust in God no matter what comes our way. View sample page and audio:In God We Trust
Do any of your special music people ask you to help them choose a special? Over time…our special music people have learned that I ENJOY helping them choose a song. Watch the video below to learn a suggested tip on how I help them choose their special. (There are other factors too but dealing with the main one first.) 🙂
I like it when a person looks me up at least two weeks in advance to practice their scheduled vocal or offertory special instead of waiting until the last minute to rehearse.
This doesn’t include those who have to fill in at the last minute.
Which brings me to another topic…
It would be great if we all had a standby song/arrangement ready to play at a moment’s notice. People do get sick or have other unavoidable circumstances arise that makes for last minute cancellations. If we could get all of our special music crowd (vocal or instrumental) to do this (including ourselves).
Which reminds me…it’s time for me to rehearse standby offertory specials! 🙂

“It is Well” arranged by Faye Lopez (my favorite “It is Well” advanced arrangement!)
My dad was singing for a very special occasion here…50th year of SCACS (South Caroline Association of Christian Schools) teacher’s convention. He was the executive director of SCACS for at least 30 years.
I believe God gave Dad extraordinary strength to sing his heart out with this touching medley centered on the wonderful gift of salvation that only comes from the Lord. (He was 80 years old in this video)
I love finding new songs (new to me). We’ve used this particular song over the last several years at our church for special music.
“Then Came Jesus” has a great message of salvation. I also like that there are only two verses which helps my voice not to be worn out! 🙂
We left out the repeated chorus at the end. Here’s a video of myself and another lady singing “Then Came Jesus” in our church.
The original arrangement is written for a ladies’ trio. I’ll include another video below ours… of the trio arrangement.
The music can be purchased at: Marshall Music

Just sang “Will You Receive His Gift?” in a trio for our recent revival with Dwight Smith.
I enjoyed singing this song about Jesus’ free gift of salvation and how one only needs to believe and receive this wonderful gift. This particular arrangement was easy to learn…great harmony…allowing us to focus on the message. Thank you Niki Lott for writing such a beautiful song!
