Sacred Vocal CD Giveaway: His Name is Wonderful

Monday, February 29th, 2016

FRONT BACK

Some friends of ours just published their first sacred vocal CD this past summer entitled “His Name is Wonderful”.  I absolutely love it!

Thanks to Faith Music Missions for doing an outstanding  job on this CD! You can hear samples HERE (offsite link)

You may contact me at jenifer@thechurchpianist.com to order the CD. (I do have a limited number of these CDs for $12 each plus postage.)

I was suppose to accompany them for the recording but distance prevented me from doing so but their pianist, David Chamberlain, did a wonderful job!

Hunter and Morgan commuted to our church for at least four years while attending Bible college.  They served in several areas of ministry while there.

We miss them!  (Hunter was the inspiration behind the congregational booklets I’ve been publishing.)

Hunter now serves in a church located in New York City while Morgan is serving in a church out in Kansas.

Back to the CD…The songs are fresh! (some haven’t been published yet)

I plan to publish at least 6 out of the 10 from this  sacred vocal CD.  (“God Can” by Lynndale Hardeman) is already available in our online music store HERE.

Here is a sample of  one of their songs “His Name is Wonderful” written by Reece Yandle (my Dad 🙂

(Information for CD drawing is below the video)

Forgotten Hymn: May the Mind of Christ My Savior

Friday, January 15th, 2016

May-the-Mind-of-Christ-my-Savior

I love to look through old hymnals for long forgotten hymns that I can try to revive.

But I stumbled across this forgotten hymn in one of my devotional books this week, entitled, “Amazing Grace 366 Inspiring Hymn Stories for Daily Devotions” written by Kenneth W. Osbeck

I absolutely LOVE this book and not sure how I acquired it.

“May the Mind of Christ My Savior” had two authors: Words by Kate Wilkinson and Music by A. Cyril Barham-Gould (what a long name!)  I couldn’t find much information about either author but had to share this hymn loaded with rich meaning!

Here’s an excerpt from my devotional book which introduced this hymn…

“Each day our prayer life should include the request that the Holy Spirit reveal the mind of Christ to us.   It is vitally important that we nourish our minds daily with quality materials_ things “that are just, pure and lovely.”  Philippians 4:8

Update

Tuesday, December 1st, 2015

I’ve been sick  for the past three weeks and feeling much better now!

Unfortunately I was unable to finish “Sweet Little Jesus Boy” piano solo but will be publishing a brand new Christmas vocal solo arrangement by my dad, Reece Yandle, sometime this week. The song is entitled “Hallelujah, Christ is Born!” and is just beautiful!  The verses begin in a minor key and the chorus changes to major…I will say this has become my favorite Christmas song written by my Dad. Yes, he has written others but just haven’t published them yet 🙂

Here’s an audio sample of Dad’s song with printed words below to follow along as you hear the tune…

Hallelujah Christ is Born

Verse one:

Prophet bards foretold His birth,

How the Babe would come to earth;

How salvation He would bring,

Jesus Christ the newborn King!

Chorus:

Hallelujah, Christ is born,

Hallelujah Christmas morn…

I have also posted some Christmas piano arrangement books for sale on our “Used Music” page.  These books come from a growing stack of books I purchased this past year and just don’t need them all. I plan to post more for sale as time allows.

VERY excited about this beautiful song, “We Have a Saviour Who Cares” by Mina Oglesby!

You and your congregation will be blessed by this heart-warming song which reminds believers of God’s constant presence in their  lives.

A very appropriate song for those going through a difficult time…who need that extra encouragement….to know that God cares!

The following video was recorded before the written arrangement took place so I will try to provide a more accurate recording asap but this will give you a general idea of the song.

Just Published! Congregational Piano Hymn Arrangements: Booklet Two

Wednesday, October 28th, 2015

So glad to have finally finished this collection of Congregational Piano Hymn Arrangements! I always enjoy writing in an accompaniment fashion…much more can be played than the melody 🙂

I may have strayed more from melody in this second collection but not enough to lose your congregation 😉

Hope you enjoy this collection!  A special thanks to the John W. Peterson company for working with me to include “Heaven Came Down” which I REALLY had fun writing!

Congregational Piano Hymn Arrangements (Booklet Two)
10 Late intermediate to early advanced piano congregational arrangements. 37 pages Songs include: And Can it Be, At the Cross, Come Thou Fount, Heaven Came Down, Higher Ground, I Shall Know Him (My Saviour First of All), It's Just Like His Great Love, My Faith Has Found a Resting Place, Near the Cross, What a Friend We Have in Jesus) *Special note: The arrangements in this booklet do not support the four-part singing found in most hymnals. *Other suggested uses: vocal solos, violin specials, unison choir specials. **Another special note: These arrangements can not stand alone as piano solos since some of the melody is absent during the piano accompaniment.

Free Piano/Vocal Solo Arrangement: I Shall Know Him

Monday, October 12th, 2015

Just started revival meetings with Alton Beal this week to last through Wednesday.

My daughter-in-law will be helping me with accompanying this week so I wrote this arrangement (I Shall Know Him)… for her to accompany the vocal solo for tonight.

The vocal soloist happens to take a lot of freedom with the text …lots of ebb and flow. So I freed the pianist from the melody to allow more freedom for the pianist and soloist.

Wanted to share this free piano/vocal solo arrangement  for “I Shall Know Him” before running errands!

Accompanying Made Simple by Shelly Hamilton

pen laying on staff paper

I recently attended a couple piano workshops by Shelly Hamilton.

“Accompanying Made Simple” was a very practical workshop providing the church pianists with simple yet practical ideas for accompanying special music.

Shelly brought her accompaniment suggestions to life by offering a free arrangement of Day by Day which includes three different accompaniment styles.  Thanks Shelly!

I attended Shelly’s workshops so that I could share accompaniment ideas with my church pianist readers.  Click on the following links to download the handouts for this workshop.

Looking forward to publishing “We Have a Saviour Who Cares” by Mina Oglesby.

I’m working on the written arrangement of this duet.

Here’s a video clip of myself with a friend singing it at our church this past Sunday.  (The alto part will have a higher harmony in several spots for the final written version; just had to keep a low harmony throughout for my limited vocal range)
