The Church Pianist: Sacred Vocal Solo by Reece Yandle
Just finished playing for a creation conference here this week. Due to limited time, I’m sharing a sacred vocal solo by my dad, Reece Yandle. He wrote this song several years ago entitled “When I Looked Up to the Cross”.
The following songs by Reece Yandle, have been published by Soundforth. Each of these songs are included in a book of sacred solos and or duets.
Who Will Go? (with a misson emphasis)
Nevertheless, Thy Will be Done
I recently added another one of dad’s songs, “Cleft of the Rock” to the music store.
Now…on to dad’s video of the sacred vocal solo…”When I Looked Up to the Cross”

Dear Jenifer; What a true joy to hear you play for your father as he sang this truly wonderful hymn. We especially appreciated your own simple and yet profound words of love for your dad at the end of the video. Long ago I (Loren) accompanied my dear dad as he played his mandolin in a rescue mission near Chicago. He left us for his eternal home almost 50 years ago, but I think of him, with much gratitude, on a daily basis. As your father has impacted your life in a remarkable way, so my father lived out his love for the Savior and with that consistent, humble commitment, impacted my life in a dramatic manner. Blessings on you always as you continue with your important work.
Thank you Loren and Louise 🙂 You too are inspirational and appreciate your support. Look forward to meeting you both one day in glory 🙂
Dear Jenifer; We purchased this wonderful hymn music about 2 months ago and have learned to love not only the music but also those beautiful words. You will perhaps recall that on page #4 you inserted the word “triumphantly”. It is at this location where we sometimes “step up” the music to one flat. What a wonderful tribute it is to your dear father (now in Heaven) to have these words that he composed live on to inspire others to seek, find, and accept the loving Savior.
