Piano Introductions: Part One
How long should a piano introduction be? What part of the song do I play for the introduction?
I hope the following video and free pdf sheet of piano introduction examples will benefit church pianists needing guidance in this area.

Thanks so much for this! Intros and fills for hymns have always been the hardest thing for me (even though my music theory is really solid) because I wasn’t sure what style to play. The church I grew up in used contemporary songs for worship, and the church I play for now is strictly hymns. I love the old hymns now, but I wasn’t super familiar with the style. So the written examples really help, and so do the videos!
You’re welcome Stephanie 🙂 I also love the old hymns and glad the information on piano introductions was a help.
This is a great help…wondering when part two will come out.
(:
Hi Tanya,
Thanks. Honestly, I’m not sure. We have been very busy setting up a new online music store and about to go live. Some of these continue-to-be lessons will be offered in the music store at a later date. Since you expressed interest in this area, I will develop another freebie article providing several samples of piano introductions. Thanks for your interest!

Thanks so much for this! I have a song leader who is still a little unsure of himself so sometimes I have a really hard time and do tend to slow down a bit waiting on him. I am sure to keep your tips in mind on Wednesday though!!
