Come join me for an evening of Christmas carols this coming Thursday, December 19th at 8pm EST.
I will be playing live on Facebook at the following link: PIANO CHRISTMAS MUSIC
Today’s date: December 11, 2024 (Published on December 14, 2024!
I will publish an early advanced Christmas piano solo this week! Special note:
This arrangement is very similar to my advanced version of O Little Town of Bethlehem.
You may want to compare the first page of both arrangements before purchasing. (I will provide the first page of each asap)
I enjoyed weaving in the “peaceful” pattern to picture the night of Christ’s birth.
Left: older version Right: newer version.
I had almost forgotten to share this intermediate piano arrangement of “I Heard the Bells”. My original arrangement of this title was an advanced version.
This year, one of my intermediate piano students was looking for a recital piece so I came up with this solution. She has done very nice with this arrangement.
Please excuse the poor video quality but was the best I could do.
Allissa is one of my piano students who is being groomed for the role of church pianist.
Listen to Allissa share her experiences as she has become more involved in the music ministry at our church.
Book list is included in the description under the youtube video. I will also share it here too:
Here are the sacred piano books she mentions in this video:
1. The Piano Student’s Hymnal (for congregational singing). https://www.alfred.com/the-piano-stud… 2. Showers of Blessing (offertories arranged by Jenifer Cook). https://lorenz.com/shop/keyboard/pian… 3. Basic Adult Sacred Piano Book (easy offertories!) https://www.alfred.com/alfreds-basic-…
I just published a late intermediate level piano solo of “I Need Thee Every Hour with the chorus of Close to Thee.
The words to both hymns remind me to have total dependence on God.
Wow! This arrangement of Make Me a Blessing was literally a handful to write …but fun too!
Have you ever thought about the mood of verse one? The lyrics are on the sad side for the first part of the first verse.
So, I began in a minor key and then transitioned to Major key as the words depicted.
You need long fingers to reach some of the chords….especially the tenth chord in the left hand on the third page.
No worries…it’s a “rolled” chord 😉
Take a listen to see if this arrangement is fit for your comfort 😉
I need your help! Thank you! 🙂
I started writing this arrangement a couple of months ago and then misplaced it! I just found it this past weekend and was able to finish it today.
It was fun to use a lot of colorful chords for a more majestic sound.
The approximate time of this piece is 1:40.
Now for a fast paced upbeat arrangement of Heavenly Sunlight! I love this old hymn which reminds Christians that God will never fail them no matter what is happening in their lives.
I chose to arrange verse one and two for this piece.
Verse One
Walking in sunlight all of my journey, Over the mountains thru the deep vale.
Jesus has said, “I’ll never forsake thee,” Promise divine that never can fail.
Chorus:
Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight, Flooding my soul with glory divine.
Hallelujah! I am rejoicing; Singing His praises Jesus is mine.
Verse Two
Shadows around me, shadows above me
Never conceal my Savior and Guide, He is the light; in Him is no darkness. Ever I’m walking close to His side!
Chorus: (same as above)
Another easy to learn patriotic piece requiring minimal practice!
I wrote this one for my daughter-in-law and myself to learn the weekend before Memorial Day.
It turned out real nice! Sounds big but not as hard as it may sound.
My favorite parts are the intro, the small run from piano to piano on the third page and the colorful chord progression used for the ending!
