Free Arrangement of Silent Night
I shared this free arrangement of “Silent Night” last year on my site on the “Free Christmas Piano Arrangements” page. Since I’m rather busy this week getting ready for my annual Christmas recital to be held on Thursday…I will share a video recording of this free arrangement of “Silent Night”.
Now…looking ahead to my next article…I need my reader’s help! What Christmas carol do you find to be the most awkward to play from the hymnal? Leave a comment below…giving me the name of a Christmas carol fitting this description. I will create an article on the “most mentioned” Christmas carol. I will give everyone until Friday to leave a comment. Thanks for your help!
“Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne” was the most mentioned Christmas carol in the comments below. So…I’m working on it right now and will post an article soon! Thanks for your feedback.
Awkward hymns…. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear and Angels from the Realms of Glory.
Your post reminded me that I played your lovely arrangement of Silent Night in church last year. I don’t think anyone will mind if I play it again!
I vote for “Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne”…way too much space between tenor and bass notes! I’m no good at playing the tenor notes with my right hand, so on songs like this, I end up figuring out the chords and writing them in, then just ‘do my own thing’ 🙂
Thanks for this, Jenifer!
I have always found “O Little Town of Bethlehem” awkward to play. It just doesn’t flow for me.
I just found your website a couple weeks ago and love it. Thank you!
Oops! I was just going through my Christmas music from last year, and realize you have already done “Thou Didst Leave”! Sorry…I withdraw my vote!
Hi Shirley, I’ll leave your vote just in case others feel like they need more ideas with this one 🙂
I vote for “Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne”. Thank you Mrs. Cook!
My vote goes for Angels We Have Heard on High. I find it difficult especially to know what to play in the chorus.
Thanks, Jenifer!
So many of them actually. I cringe when I see the song list most Sundays during this time of year. Pretty much all the minor key ones. And O Holy Night too. Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne is awkward but the last line is gorgeous and almost makes up for the rest of it.
