Great is Thy Faithfulness: Advanced Piano Solo

Sunday, September 15th, 2019

Great is Thy Faithfulness became a public domain hymn this past January!

I have an advanced piano arrangement in the works for this well-loved hymn to be published by the end of September 2019.

Here’s a sneak preview of the first page:

“Crown Him with Many Crowns” Early intermediate Sacred Piano Solo

Monday, June 24th, 2019

Just finished recording this arrangement to my youtube channel.  This particular arrangement of “Crown Him with Many Crowns” is available in my book entitled “My Redeemer and Friend” published by Lorenz.

One of my early intermediate students is working on this particular arrangement right now. She said it was comfortable to the hand and plans on playing it for offertory at her church.

Piano Offertory Idea: Medley

Wednesday, August 29th, 2018

Hey! Just played a medley for offertory tonight that I REALLY enjoyed (homespun of course;)

Oh How He Loves You & Me (followed by…..)
O How I Love Jesus (chorus only)
Tag: the last line of Oh How He Love You & Me

Lyrics seem to flow in this order. I liked ending with the last line of “Oh How He Loves You & Me” for emphasis.

Oh how I WISH that “Oh How He Loves You & Me” were public domain but still under copyright.

Nice Patriotic Piano Offertory

May-Jesus-Christ-be-Praised-Book-Marilynn-Ham

Just came across this piano book, “May Jesus Christ be Praised” with a nice patriotic medley by Marilynn Ham and thought I’d share it.  You can only view the first two pages but it’s a nice looking piece for offertory! I also like the looks of “When Morning Gilds the Skies”.  These are arrangements are for the advanced pianist.

Sheet Music Plus has it on sale right now for $13.59 plus shipping. I’m buying my copy right now 🙂

Not sure how new this book is but I haven’t seen it before.

The Church Pianist: Piano Offertory Resource

Friday, January 21st, 2011

This is the time of year that I research piano offertories for church  and recital pieces for my students to play at the upcoming spring recital.

The following book “In the Light of His Glory” by Martha Mier, contains twelve late intermediate to early advanced piano arrangements.  The book was produced by Alfred Publishing Company.  I like Alfred’s website because they show sample pages from the different sacred piano books or any other music for that matter. The sample pages from this book sound beautiful!

The three samples available at the time of my search were: “Near to the Heart of God” , His Eye is on the Sparrow” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.

The Church Pianist: Intermediate Offertory Piano Books

Friday, May 28th, 2010

One of my church pianist readers recently asked if I knew of any nice intermediate level piano offertory books.

Try the following…

Lost in Wonder by Jim Lucas

Intermediate Collection #1 by Jenifer Cook (unavailable; store under construction)

Hymn Medleys by Phillip Keveren  (recommended by a friend)

A Sacred Collection by Ken Renfrow

Hymns with Style by Jerry Ray

Sacred Silhouettes by Dennis Alexander

The Church Pianist: Free Piano Offertory (Part Two)

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Finally! Here is part two of the free piano offertory
for this week.

This piano offertory is an old hymn reminding us of what
a special place heaven must be.

The text depicts a happy mood. I tried to make it simple
but peppy.

Notice the bouncy rhythm in the left hand on page one
used to convey a cheerful message.
